Pruning plants in October is important because it will encourage with next years growth before they go dormant. Perennials that need to be pruned include, Bellflowers, Daylilies, Salvia, Coneflowers, and Catmint. Dig and store tuberous begonias, dahlias, and gladiolus. If your garden is prone to diseases or pests definitely remove debris in the fall. Watch for the signs of a disease in the late summer. Allow them to airdry and then store in a cool dark place. Use paper bags, not plastic to store your bulbs in. Cut the bedding of begonias to the ground after the first frost.
